Ryan's 4 Step Goal Setting Guide...

The four steps to successful goal setting are:

1) Setting yourself realistic goals and writing them down, asking yourself "why" you want to achieve them and "why" are they important to you.

2) Setting timeframes along with a deadline as to when you want to have achieved your goals by.

3) Adding short term goals and timeframes.

4) Identifying any potential barriers; one of the most important and powerful processes you can go through towards achieving your health and fitness goals!

I have been using these goal setting methods with my 1:1 clients for over 16 years to successfully set the scene, generate excitement and passion, lay down some accountability and address any potential barriers that might crop up and get in the way.

The likely hood of you achieving your goals are around 500% higher if you follow my Four Step Goal Setting Guide so grab a cuppa and let's get started...!

Step 1: Define your long term ultimate goals.

What are your long term health and fitness goals?

Be as specific as possible; if you want to lose weight write down exactly how much you want to lose; write down a target weight if you have one.

If you want to get back into smaller clothes write down your current dress/trouser size then write down your target dress size/trouser size.

If you want to improve your fitness describe how fit specifically you want to be by writing down how fit you feel currently on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the unfittest you've ever been and 10 being the fittest you think you could be).

Once you have identified a goal and written it down in "Goal 1", we now need to peel the onion so to speak and ask yourself "why do I want to achieve that particular goal" and write down the reason in the "Why? 1" box.

Then again, ask yourself "why" to what you wrote in "Why? 1". I.e, "Why is that important to me?" and write it down in "Why? 2". We're peeling away the layers of the onion to get to the root reason why you want to achieve that goal...

Then ask yourself again, "why would this be important to me & how will I feel when I've achieved that?" and write down the underlying root reason why you want to achieve each goal in "Why? 3".

Some of your reasons may appear quite dark and negative, such as some fears you might have if you were to continue on your current path so get those written down, it's powerful and important to know what you don't want for yourself but always try to end on a positive reason and identify what it is that you do want and how you do want to feel.

Note: You might need to ask yourself "why" more than 3 times to get to the root reason if it's something you've suppressed for many years due to the truth being too painful to deal with. Don't be afraid to dig deep here, this is powerful stuff for your success!
