During your Free consultation (60 minutes), we will discuss your past and present physical activity levels, health and injury status, diet, activity preferences, work and family commitments, stress levels, sleep quality and find out exactly what you want to achieve and set some realistic short term and long term goals and timeframes based off of all that.
From all this information we will then agree on your weekly training and nutrition schedule then begin to set up and design a safe and effective Personal Training programme which will be tailored to meet your individual needs - fitting exercises to You, NOT fitting You to exercise!
Health & Body Composition Assessment:
A 30 minute body stats assessment using various anthropometric measurements and state of the art equipment will be carried out at the very start of your Personal Training programme to set the benchmark and every 2-4 weeks thereafter to continually monitor your progress and ensure that you are on the right track. Tests include analysing your:
- Body Fat Percentage
- Muscle Percentage
- Visceral/Abdominal Fat
- Resting Metabolic Rate
- Body Fat Calipers
- Tape Measurements
- Waist to Hip Ratio
- Body Composition Health Risk Score
- Blood Pressure
- Resting Heart Rate
- Lung Power
- Fitness Level; muscle strength, flexibility & balance.
Depending on your own personal goals we will select the relevant tests from this list.
Personal Biomechanics Assessments:
The current function of your joints and muscle system will dictate what you can and can't do during a Personal Training session. The purpose of the personal biomechanics assessments is for us to determine your current physical abilities and design your exercises according to what you CAN do and where your body allows you to go - fitting exercises to You, NOT fitting You to exercise!
Safe & Effective Personal Training Programme:
After analysing all the information provided by you during your free consultation and your personal biomechanics assessments, we will get to work on creating an exercise programme specifically designed around you. Your training programme will be designed in such a way as to allow modification as you progress, no cookie cutter programmes here!
I'm one of only a handful of Personal Training in the UK that have trained through the Resistance Training Specialist® (RTS®) educational programme so you can rest assured that you're in very safe hands when it comes to lifting weights AKA resistance training or using exercise machines.
Your programme will be periodised over a 4 week cycle and we will check in with your body stats every 2-4 weeks to record your improvements and analyse your progress. Periodising your training programme in this way ensures that during exercise we optimise the training effect whilst doing so at a safe level. There is a very fine line between optimum physiological adaptation (optimum progress) and over-doing it - I aim to get that balance just right for you.
Personal Trainer sessions can be held at the fully equipped semi-private fitness studio in Kemptown, Brighton or at your home or outdoors in a local park or on the Brighton beach for example.
Regular exercise and healthy eating go hand in hand to achieve a healthier lifestyle and the body you desire. You will struggle to reach your goal whether that be fat loss or lean mass weight gain without it. Every exercise programme should be accompanied by healthy and appropriate nutritional advice to not only fuel your workouts but to optimise recovery and regeneration in between sessions. I will provide you with nutritional guidelines (or meal plans) that will not only provide you with the opportunity to achieve stunning results in a very short time but will set you up with good habits for the long term to manage your weight without you feeling like you're on a diet.
Using Nutrigenetics (the science of the effect of genetic variation on dietary response) we can determine whether you are "Carbohydrate Sensitive" or "Fat Sensitive", allowing true personalisation of your diet based on your DNA.

I will help to motivate you to train effectively to reach your goals. Personal Trainer sessions will always be delivered with enthusiasm, and personalised adaptations of conventional exercises will help to enhance your exercise experience and make exercise challenging, exiting and fun.
I will closely and continuously monitor your progress to help you develop at your optimal rate reducing your risk of injury or over-training. This will ensure that your long term goals are more achievable in a realistic time frame through setting short term achievable goals. I will hold you accountable towards the goals that you set for yourself; there will be no escape...
