During your Free consultation (60 minutes), we will discuss your current physical activity levels, past and present health and injury status, diet, activity preferences and find out exactly what you want to achieve during your programme and set some realistic short term and long term goals and timeframes. From all this vital information I will then design a safe and effective Personal Training programme tailored to meet your individual needs.


Health & Body Composition Assessment:

A 30 minute body stats assessment using various anthropometric measurements will be carried out at the very start of your Personal Training programme to set the benchmark and every 2-4 weeks thereafter to continually monitor your progress and ensure that you are on the right track. Tests include analysing your:

  • Body Fat Percentage
  • Muscle Percentage
  • Visceral/Abdominal Fat
  • Metabolic Rate
  • Body Fat Calipers
  • Tape Measurements
  • Waist to Hip Ratio
  • Body Composition Health Risk Score
  • Blood Pressure
  • Resting Heart Rate
  • Lung Power
  • Fitness Level; muscle strength, flexibility & balance.

Depending on your own personal goals we will only select the relevant tests from this list.


Personal Biomechanics Assessment:

The current state of your joints and muscle systems will dictate what you can and can't do during a Personal Training session. The purpose of your personal biomechanics assessment is for us to determine your current limitations in range of motion and design your Personal Training programme accordingly.


Safe & Effective Personal Training Programme:

After analysing all the information provided by you during your free consultation and your personal biomechanics assessment, I will get to work on designing an exercise programme specifically for you. Your programme will be designed in such a way as to allow modification as you progress, no cookie cutter programmes here!

It will be periodised over a 4 week period and once completed, another body statistics and fitness assessment will be carried out to record your improvements and analyse your progress. Periodising your training programme in this way ensures that during exercise you optimise the training effect whilst exercising at a safe level. There is a very fine line between optimum physiological adaptation (your optimum progress) and over-doing it; I aim to get that balance just right for you!

Personal Trainer sessions can be held at the well equipped semi-private fitness studio at the Sea Lanes on Brighton sea front, or at your home or outdoors in a local park in Hove or on a beach in Hove.


Nutrition Guidance:

Regular exercise and healthy eating go hand in hand to achieve a healthier lifestyle and the body you desire. You will struggle to reach your goal whether that be fat loss or lean mass weight gain without it. Every exercise programme should be accompanied by healthy and appropriate nutritional advice to not only fuel your workouts but to optimise recovery and regeneration in between your Personal Training sessions. I will provide you with nutritional guidelines (or meal plans) that will not only provide you with the opportunity to achieve stunning results in a very short time but will set you up with good habits for the long term to manage your weight without you feeling like you're on a diet.

Using Nutrigenetics (the science of the effect of genetic variation on dietary response) we can determine whether you are "Carbohydrate Sensitive" or "Fat Sensitive", allowing true personalisation of your diet based on your DNA.


Motivation & Accountability:

I will help to motivate you to train effectively to reach your goals. Personal Trainer sessions will always be delivered with enthusiasm, and adaptations of conventional exercises will help to make exercise challenging, exciting and fun.

I will closely and continuously monitor your progress to help you develop at your optimal rate reducing your risk of injury or over-training. This will ensure that your long term goals are more achievable in a realistic time frame through setting short term achievable goals.
